Demographic Studies
Congregations in the LCMS want to fulfill the Great Commission that our Lord gave to the Church. In order to help congregations, districts and other ministries fulfill the Lord's command, the Lutheran Church Extension Fund provides demographic resources. When a ministry wants to reach out into a community, obtaining LCEF demographic information is a good place to start. Through census information and semi-annual data updates, LCEF can provide detailed demographic data about any area in the United States.
Full LCEF emographic studies include the following information about your area: population by age, race, and sex; households by income; marital status; home ownership/rental statistics; children enrolled in school; urban versus rural population; population by education level; MicroVision segmentation, religious survey; and forecasts for long-term planning and church planting. For information and cost of getting a full LCEF demographic study for your area, call 1-800-854-4004, ext. 1804 or 1806.
The Nebraska District LCEF can provide you with an imark demographic report, which a smaller version of the full LCEF demographic study. The imark is an excellent tool in the beginning stages of ministry planning. If you are interested in an imark demographic, please contact the Nebraska LCEF program at 1-888-643-2961.
