Mental Health Text: Genesis 4:1-16, Ephesians 4:25-32, Matthew 5:21-26 Sermon Hymn “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” LSB 656/657 Do you or someone you know get “Angry as Cain?” Anger in the lives of Christians is real. Getting ‘Angry as Cain’ only brings destruction to yourself and others. Yet, in Christ believers can deal with anger in a way that brings peace. Text: Genesis 15:1-6, Hebrews 11:1-16, Luke 12:22-34 Sermon Hymn “Have no Fear Little Flock” LSB 735 Too many bills, not enough time, unanswered questions. Life is filled with anxious moments. Anxiety many times leads to depression and a lack of joy for life. Knowing who you are in Christ can make all the difference for those who suffer with anxiety. Text: 1 Kings 19:4-12, Psalm 13:1-6, John 1:1-14 Sermon Hymn: “Christ Be My Leader” LSB 861 Depression is agony of body and soul. It can result in the isolation from friends and family. It also can isolate you from God and the gift of salvation in His Word. Hear how God responds mercifully to Elijah and to you in times of great loss. Church Worker Heath Congregational Health
Text: Genesis 8:13-22, 1 Peter 2:4-12, Mark 7:14-23 Sermon Hymn “Rejoice, My Heart, Be Glad and Sing” LSB 737 That which rules the heart rules the person. So often Christians allow the ways of the world influence how they think and behave in the church. But how would things change if Christ ruled our hearts? Text: Psalm 81:1-10, Ephesians 4:22-5:1, Luke 6:43-45 Sermon Hymn: "Voices Raised to You We Offer" LSB 795 In the eighth commandment God forbids us to betray our neighbor or to tell lies about our neighbor. Another way to say it, God forbids us to gossip and slander. Both are sinful and both fail to defend our neighbor and speak well of him/her. Our breaking of the 8th commandment shows the desires of our hearts and our need to be filled. Thanks be to God that he has a plan to fill us in His son Jesus Christ.
Text: Jeremiah 20:7-13, Romans 6:12-23, Matthew 10:21-33 Sermon Hymn: "Consider How the Birds Above" LSB 736 The fear of man leads us to put our trust in the promises of man. This can leave us battered by sin and left with no hope. But the fear of God leads us to trust in the promises of God. That is the promise of salvation which comes to us in the name of Jesus Christ. Those who fear God put their hope in this unfailing love.
Text: Acts 9:1-22, Galatians 1:11-24, Matthew 19:27-30 Sermon Hymn: "O God, O Lord of Heaven and Earth" LSB 834 Revitalization will challenge congregations to make considerable changes. However, change is never an easy process and many times it results in conflict. But don’t forget the most significant change - We were once dead in our sins and now we are alive in Christ! Change is good because faith in Christ has changed everything. |
