Rev. Russ Sommerfeld russs@ndlcms.org

Rev. Russ Sommerfeld was chosen by the people of the Nebraska District to serve as their President. As District President, he serves as an advisor to the church workers of the District, as a visitor to congregations and church workers in times of celebration or difficulty, and as a leader in ministry to the members of the Nebraska District.

Kim serves the District as the President's assistant.  Call Kim if you need to schedule an appointment with the President. She can also help you with call documents for ordained ministers, the Pastor’s Information Form and Self-Evaluation Tool for ordained ministers, and candidate pastor placement or vicarage assignments into congregations. Please also call Kim with planned celebration dates for church worker and congregational anniversaries. 

Church Worker Health
Rev. Mark Rockenbach markr@ndlcms.org

Pastor Mark Rockenbach serves the District as Executive for Church Worker Health. He is available to provide pastoral care and counseling to professional church workers and their families in times of personal, family and ministry crisis.

Julie Roebke serves the District as assistant in the areas of gift planning and church worker health. Julie may be contacted to answer questions regarding these ministry areas or to help make appointments with the Gift Planning Counselor or Church Worker Health executive. 

Communications
Nichole Hetz nicholeh@ndlcms.org

Nichole Hetz serves the District as Director of Communications and is responsible for sharing information with the congregations and members of the District. Nichole is also available to visit with you about the miracles God is doing through His people in your congregation or school. She may be contacted with communications questions and is happy to provide resources to members and church offices to help improve communications practices.

District Missions and Outreach

Pastor Boring works with the ministries of the Nebraska District. He is available to visit with you about existing or developing ministry opportunities across the District. He is also available to help coordinate a servant event between your congregation's group and a ministry in Nebraska.

Connie Borchers connieb@ndlcms.org

Connie serves as Assistant in Missions and Outreach for the Nebraska District. She is available to make appointments for the Mission and Outreach Exec and helps coordinate his speaking schedule. Those wishing to find out more about mission or outreach opportunities in the Nebraska District may contact Connie.

Education and Youth

Don serves the District as Executive for Education and Youth Ministries. He is available to consult with congregations and commissioned ministers regarding the Call process and ministry opportunities. He is also available to resource congregations in the area of youth ministry.

Kathy serves the District as assistant in the areas of Education, Youth, and the Lay Leadership Program. Contact Kathy if you need call documents for teachers, Lutheran Educator Information Forms, Personnel Information Forms or other educational related forms. She may also be contacted for information on youth ministry and the Nebraska District lay leadership training program.

Finance Office

Paul serves as LCEF Nebraska Vice-President and Nebraska District Treasurer. He is available to help you with LCEF loan and investor services, ministry resources, congregational finance questions, Worker Benefit Plans, and to make presentations. He is also very willing to meet with congregations and individuals to discuss the many services LCEF offers, as well as finance issues.

Barb VonKampen serves as accountant in the Distict's finance office.  Her responsibilities include the monitoring and reporting of the financial activities of the District. 

Sandy Ruether sandyr@ndlcms.org

Sandy Ruether serves the District in the finance office as the bookkeeper. She will assist you in the areas of Lutheran Witness subscriptions, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.

Carrie Parr serves the District as assistant to the Lutheran Church Extension Fund vice president and to the District Treasurer. Carrie may be contacted to answer questions in these areas, or to help make appointments with those in these departments. 

Gift Planning

Neal Koch is Gift Planning Counselor for the Nebraska District.  Gift planning serves all ministries of The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod, providing creative alternatives for you to give to the Lord's work through direct gifts, annuities, wills, life income and trust agreements.

Lay Leadership Training Program

Rev. Bergman is the coordinator of the Nebraska District Lay Leadership Training Program. He works with laity across the District, coordinating educational events which intend to equip one for service in a congregation and community.

Gene works with the many services LCEF offers, including the KIDS stamp program, demographics studies, professional church worker loan information, and more. Gary Thies is the Mission Development Counselor for the Nebraska and Iowa West Districts.  Gary travels to congregations, organizations, and individuals across the Nebraska District sharing with them what God is doing in His mission work here in Nebraska and throughout the World.
