Engaging Your Community

engaging-your-community-workshopsThe rural and small town communities in Nebraska are unique and fertile mission fields. Each and every community contains hurting people in need of the healing Gospel message of Jesus Christ. Often times the congregations in these mission fields see the need but are unsure of how to start. The upcoming “Engaging Your Community” training may be what your congregation needs to take that first, or next, step into its mission field.

“Engaging Your Community” is a one-day training designed to support and encourage congregations in rural and small town settings in their work to engage their communities with the love of Christ. Pastors and teams of three or four lay leaders are encouraged to register and attend this training filled with Bible study, hands-on learning modules, group discussion and planning, and fellowship time.

There is no “one size fits all” solution; however, congregational leaders will be given tools and encouraged to see new opportunities for engaging their communities, with a hope for the future. Participants will identify personal and congregational assets they have in place and make plans for using resources to engage their respective communities. Throughout the event you will …

  • Learn about your community;
  • Identify congregational assets;
  • Consider new ways to engage your community;
  • Restore hope for the future;
  • Develop action plans for community engagement; and
  • Identify challenges and opportunities facing your congregation.

Each congregation represented will also receive a detailed demographic study courtesy of Lutheran Church Extension Fund.
