Vacation Bible School 2004 at Winnebago

I would like to thank and praise God for faithful servants who gave of themselves to share the Good NewsPraise God for those talented people who wrote the materials, songs, etc.

We began the week with 38, peaked on Wednesday with 58, and averaged a little over 40 children with 75 different souls attending.  Each one of these children is precious in God's eyes.  Each day we shared the life changing and life saving Gospel.

Closer to home, there was my dear beautiful and organized wife, KimKim not only was our song leader, she also put together our daily crafts and decorated the church and our home (many of the signs came from Hope Lutheran Church of South Sioux City, thanks!).  Evan and Kelly assisted by leading the classes to their various activities.

Pastor David List, one of our Native American Committee members, volunteered to teach again this year.  This year we decided to have him teach the 3 & 4-yr olds, 5 & 6-yr olds, and 7 & 8-yr olds.  Pastor List is an awesome teacher; one young boy, beginning the week disinterested, ended the week by boldly and correctly answering the questions.

Pastor List also invited his two daughters to assist us.  Beth and Rebecca were truly a blessing as they lead crafts and connected it with the daily Bible story.  The children sure enjoyed following their directions and constructed some wonderful crafts.

Patty Wagner, who has been faithfully serving from our first VBS, had fun teaching the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders. This loving woman of God built up the children of Winnebago in ways that they did not even realize!

Char Lahmann, another NAM Committee member, volunteered w/Regina and Sandy Scott, our members, to help register the children and distribute snacks..  Two parents, Troy and Sandy Armell, led the 7 & 8-yr olds to their various activities.  The Sowers, Angela, Emily, Ben and Alexa (Home schooling friends), also assisted us.

Then there was Sara Lee Suarez who volunteered to make Indian Dogs and Indian Tacos for our closing program.  They were sure delicious.  There were others who prayed for us, supported us financially, encouraged us, etc. who also should be thanked.  Praise God for each and every one of these faithful servants whom were answers to my prayers!

On Saturday morning at a brunch, Dawn Snake (who provided the snacks each day), publicly thanked me for being the person that I am.  She went on to say that unfortunately, for some of the children who attended our Vacation Bible School, that that would be the only place where they would hear about God.  That is why we are here and that is exactly why it is important to be here, so that God's Spirit would work through the teaching and preaching of His sacred Word in order to build His church.
