As I have traveled to speak to over 900 different congregations in the United States and Canada, this one picture has had more impact than any other picture.  It is a picture that I took on a cold and snowy March day here at Mission Central.  It is a picture that I keep on my "screen saver" that reminds us all that God can do anything, and that God speaks to us in the most unusual ways. On a cold March day two miles east of Mapleton, Iowa, the Lord actually gave us a “sign.”  As I walked out to look at the snow on that day, I noticed that the snow had so cleanly covered the ground, and it reminded us of how the Lord's love, goodness and grace covers all of our sins, and that we too have a "white robe" over our filth of sin and evil.  The Lord Jesus died for us, and His blood covers our sins like a fresh blanket of white snow.  The sign that had been given to Mission Central stood out so beautifully in the snow, and so I was going to take a picture of it.  From where I stood I could only see the sign in the snow, and there was nothing else in the aperture of my camera.  However, when this picture was "downloaded" what came out was something far different!  As you can see from the picture, a cross suddenly appeared to the right of the sign! There is no cross there and when you drive by, you will not see any cross. It was the light pole for our parking lot, and in the back brush was growing up in the terrace in the distance.  Some would say, "Gee, Gary, you sure were lucky to be standing in just the right spot!"....but, we know that God puts us at the right place at just the right time.  It was like the Lord was saying, "I'm still here"..."I will never leave you or forsake you." It was truly a sign, and God has continued to bless the work of the Nebraska and Iowa West Districts here at Mission Central in such a powerful way!  This past year was the most blessed year in the 12 year history of Mission Central.  Mission Central is the largest mission supporting agency in the entire Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod outside of the International Center in St. Louis.  God still provides miracles at just the right time and in just the most unusual places and can even use old farm buildings to get His work done! "The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land..."Deuteronomy 28:8.
