"You Never Know When You’re Being Overheard!"

These are some of the words Pastor Jim Witt of Trinity, Blue Hill, uses when he talks about the wonderful things the Holy Spirit is doing in the care home of Blue Hill.

Pastor Witt, like so many other pastors, had a visitation schedule with his members in the assisted living or care home in town. One day, a member asked him to stop and visit his mother, who had moved to Blue Hill. She had been baptized by a pastor of another denomination, and now in her 80’s, her son thought she might enjoy a visit from his pastor. Through the marvelous work of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Witt began adult classes with this member and was able to confirm her right there in the care home.

The Holy Spirit continued to work through the words spoken in this adult class, and soon two families of care home employees were in adult classes. One was a couple and the other was a family of five: mom, dad, and three teenagers. Pastor Witt was approached by the family and asked to teach them more because they overheard the conversations and teachings from the first adult class he taught.

Through the Power of the Holy Spirit, this couple and this family of five were confirmed following adult instruction. What a ripe mission field the Lord placed before His servant. Are there similar opportunities to be “overheard” as you go about your ministry. As Pastor Witt says, “You never know when you’re being overheard!”
