From the President
“Say it with flowers!”  This is a statement that one often hears around Valentine’s Day. It could be a way to tell that special someone of your love. Or maybe you look for that perfect card that you think says it all. Such tokens of love, I’m sure, are appreciated. But we need to learn not to let the card or the gift do all the work of saying what we really feel inside, for all too often we take for granted the ones we love. “She knows I love her,” we tell ourselves. But we don’t share those important words; “I love you.” We all need to hear those words spoken to us. Our God especially does this in a beautiful way. He not only shares such words in His Word, He also shows how much He loves us in the gift of His Son Jesus, our only Savior from sin. The apostle John put it this way: “This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.” (1 John 4:9) It’s a message of love we hear every day. May it be God’s love that empowers us to love one another. --President Eugene Gierke
