| From
the President |
| It’s getting mighty close now. By
the time you read this, a new district president will have been
elected for the Nebraska District. I pray that God will give him
much wisdom and much joy in the ministry in which I have been
privileged to serve over the last 12 years. As I leave, I thank
God for the opportunity to have served as your district
president. When I was elected twelve years ago, I asked for your
prayers. I now thank you for them, for they have sustained and
strengthened me; not only in times of challenge and difficulty,
but also in the many times of joy. I especially found much joy
in meeting you, God’s people, and working with you and all of
our professional church workers in the mission God has given us
in reaching the lost for Jesus Christ. Continue to keep that
focus. What the years ahead hold, I don’t know. But what I do
know is this. We have our God, who says to each of us, “Be
strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified . . . for
the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor
forsake you.” (Deut. 31:6) As you in faith hold on to that
promise, may God’s amazing grace sustain you, may His arms
surround you, and may He keep you always in His love and care.
-- President Eugene Gierke |

| Thank
You |
| The Human Care Ministries Commission
thanks everyone who has supported our partnership with Lutheran
Family Services. Together
we have served nearly 100,000 persons over the past four years
by placing children into adoptive homes, helping the alcoholic
or drug addict make healthy decisions, serving the child who was
physically abused and providing support for our professional
church workers. Please
continue to support LFS with your gifts and your prayers as the
referrals continue to grow due to the stresses of the drought,
war and the economy. For
more information see the LFS website at www.lfsneb.org.
