| From
the President |
| One morning as I was taking a walk
and enjoying the new life of spring, I happened to go through a
cemetery and came upon a gravestone that had a picture of a
young man engraved upon it. In the picture he was dressed in a
gymnastic outfit, performing on the rings. He had bulging
muscles and was a picture of health. Yet underneath the picture
were the dates: 1978-1997. In the midst of life was death. God
in His Word tells us why: “The wages of sin is death.” (Rom
6:23) It is something that faces all of us, for we all have
sinned. But go back once to Easter and the message you heard. “Thanks
be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus
Christ.” (1 Cor. 15:57) Jesus, who suffered and died for
our sins, also rose from the dead. He has conquered sin, Satan
and death. His victory is our victory. It is His promise that
because He lives, we shall live also. Through faith in Jesus
Christ, life is ours, not only now, but also forever with Him in
heaven. As we celebrate new life once again this spring,
remember where this all comes from. We are resurrection people
through Jesus Christ. -- President Eugene Gierke |
