Every book and conference out there regarding the ministry right now has leadership in the title or theme somehow. The funny thing is that when Jesus taught his disciples, he spent most of his time instructing them how to follow. What happens when the going gets tough, just as Jesus promised it would? Do we begin networking for a new job? Find greener grass?

Maybe it is time to put down roots.

How can we—as DCEs—be firmly rooted at our churches where we soak up the nourishment of grace, and where our roots reach deep and wide to connect with one another? How can we represent the unmovable, unshakable reality that that Jesus can be for the people we serve?
