|2015 Nebraska District Convention
The Nebraska District Convention was held at the Younes Conference Center in Kearney on June 12-13, 2015. The theme was “In the World, Not of the World” based on John 17:15-19. Dr. Brent Smith, Executive Director of Mission Development for the Southeastern District LCMS, was the convention essayist.
The Rev. Richard Snow, senior pastor of St. John, Battle Creek was elected to his first term as president of the Nebraska District of The Lutheran ChurchMissouri Synod by the delegates attending the 18th convention of the Nebraska District in Kearney, Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon. Former District President Rev. Russ Sommerfeld has completed his fourth and final term due to term limits. Rev. Snow has previously served three terms as one of four District vice-presidents.
Named for a second term as vice-president, and his first term as first vice-president, was the Rev. Scott Porath, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle.
Chosen for his first term as second vice-president was the Rev. Karl Ziegler of First Lutheran, Papillion.
Named third vice-president for his first term was the Rev. Craig Niemeier of Zion (Worms), St Libory.
Chosen for his first term as fourth vice-president was the Rev. David Kuhfal of Grace Lutheran, Neligh and Trinity Lutheran, Elgin.

Secretary: Rev. James Rasmussen, associate pastor at Divine Shepherd, Omaha.
Board of Director members: Rhonda Burk of Crete, Jim Conner of Holstein, Dave Knorr of Humboldt, Virginia Von Seggern of Orchard, and Steve Trusty of Council Bluffs.
Holding current terms on the Board of Directors are: Harlan Metschke of Papillion, Kathy Brashear of Omaha, James Kovac of Beaver Crossing, Darla Rosendahl of Omaha, Marvin Swan of Grant, and Kent Warneke of Norfolk.
Completing terms on the Board of Directors are: Secretary Rev. Roland Jank of Omaha, and Chair, Glenn Van Velson of North Platte.
Nominations Committee: Rev. Michael Awe of Tilden, Rev. Jeff Bloom of Lincoln, Rev. Robert Kuefner of Lexington, Linda Ahrens of Lincoln, Mick Onnen of Davenport, Kim Cornett of Wisner, and Glenn Van Velson of North Platte.
Constitution and Handbook Committee: Rev. Bart Fouts of Hebron, Rev. Andrew Kennell of Staplehurst, Stuart Tietz of Lincoln, and Richard Kreutzer of Kearney.
Board of Regents, Concordia University Nebraska, Seward: Rev. Eugene Gierke of Seward, Krista Barnhouse of Lincoln, Ryan Burger of Lincoln and Andrew Stadler of Columbus.
The 332 voting delegates, composed of a pastor and one lay person from congregations in the Nebraska District, were joined by 97 advisory delegates, generally teachers and other pastors serving in the District, and 112 guests and staff members, for a total of 541 attending the triennial convention at the Younes Conference Center in Kearney.
