Rev. Terry Timm

The Reverend Terry A. Timm, Hoskins, Nebraska, departed this life on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the age of 62.  He was born in Denison, Iowa, on August 31, 1948, to John and Gertrude (Brase) Timm.  He attended high school at Wisner, Nebraska, where he graduated in 1966.  He then attended Concordia Teachers College, Seward, Nebraska, and graduated with a B.S. degree in education in 1970.

On June 27, 1970, Terry was married to Ruth Mehl at Concordia, Missouri.  Pastor and Mrs. Timm taught at Immanuel Lutheran School, Plainview, Minnesota, for two years, and then in the fall of 1972 Terry enrolled at Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Illinois.  He graduated in May, 1976, and was ordained into the ministry on June 27, 1976, at Concordia, Missouri, by his father-in-law, Dr. L. J. Mehl.

Pastor Timm served in the following ministries:  St. John, Pender, Nebraska (1976-1980); Immanuel, Osmond, Nebraska (1980-1984); St. John, Bay City, Michigan (1984-1989); Trinity, Madison, Nebraska (1989-1995); as field director for Orphan Grain Train in St. Petersburg, Russia (1995-1997); and as missionary for LCMS World Missions in St. Petersburg, Russia (1997-1999).  He was currently serving as pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh, Nebraska (since August, 2000) and was also serving as Columbus Circuit Counselor.

Terry loved to travel, spend time camping, gardening, and enjoyed his grandchildren.  He loved his dogs and spending time raising his donkeys which inspired him to author “Donkey’s Tales:  Life Lessons from the Donkey Den” in his monthly newsletter.  Growing up on a farm, he enjoyed agriculture and all of its components, especially John Deere tractors.

Pastor Timm is survived by his wife, Ruth Timm, Hoskins, Nebraska; two sons, Matt (Angie) Timm, Bennington, Nebraska, and Mark Timm, Temple, Texas; grandchildren Kayla, Jalen, Rian, Jonas, Cheresse, and Harley; four sisters and four brothers; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and stillborn daughter, Sarah.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh, Nebraska.  Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Leigh.  Visitation will be Monday, June 6, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Home for Funerals, Norfolk, Nebraska.
