Reaching Out In Love to the Sudanese Congregation
“For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body . . . If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”
1 Corinthians 12:13, 26-27
A tragic accident impacted a congregation of the Nebraska District of The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Sunday afternoon, April 29, when a van carrying 20 members of the

Lutheran
Church
in Mission of Omaha blew a tire and flipped off Interstate 80. By God’s grace, not one passenger was killed in the accident, and many were able to be treated and released from
Lincoln
hospitals in a short time. Others sustained more serious injuries, ranging from fractured bones to internal injuries, which required longer hospital stays, surgeries, and other diagnostic tests.
The churches of the Nebraska District are connected as one body through the love of Jesus Christ. Many congregations and schools are asking how they can help these brothers and sisters at this time. A fund has been set up at the Nebraska District Office to help offset the medical costs incurred as a result of the accident. Churches, schools, or individuals who wish to contribute to this fund may send donations to the District Office designated for “Sudanese Medical Fund.” Checks should be made payable to “Nebraska District LCMS” with “Sudanese Medical Fund” noted on the check. Any donations in excess of medical costs will be used by the Sudanese congregation for their mission and ministry.
