| Zion, Worms, Recognizes and Honors Servicemen and Women in their Midst
An Armed Forces dinner was held following the morning worship service at Zion, Worms, on Sunday, November 7. The dinner was in honor and appreciation of the members of Zion who have or are serving their country. Each of the honored members received a flag lapel pin as they entered church for worship. The fellowship hall was decorated in red, white, and blue. Tables with name cards for the honored guests were also decorated in red, white, and blue, and each table had 8 little flags on it. The honorees were seated according to the year that they served.
Following the dinner, a program was presented which consisted of a devotion, the Zion school children singing patriotic songs, the reading of several poems, and recognition of members of the different branches of the Armed Forces as their different songs were sung. Special recognition was given to several members-one who had served in two wars, a family that had three generations serve, a family who had four brothers serve, and to the four young men who are now serving. A special tribute was in memory of a member who was killed in Viet Nam.
The program closed with a prayer and the singing of "Now Thank We All Our God' and also "God Bless America."
Pictures were on display of the members in their uniforms. Also on display were uniforms ranging from WWII to the present. A table was used to display memoriabilia.
Many favorable comments were heard and the Evening LWML who had planned the event were asked if they were going to do it again next year.
