The Nebraska District is pleased to announce the return of Prairie Fire: Building Bridges on Saturday, August 5 at Concordia University, Seward.

Pastor and author Rev. Greg Finke will be one of our keynote speakers, giving us insight and tools to help us answer “What is My Part in My Community.” Rev. Finke will also present three break-out sessions through the day to give participants the opportunity to hear him and engage in dialog with him about being every day missionaries.

President Richard Snow will share “Why Community is Important,” as well as leading three break-out sessions on the Nebraska District’s vision for ministry. This is an opportunity for lay members to hear from the recently-elected District president and the ways in which he is working to unite the District to God, to one another, and to the community.

Additional breakout sessions will cover other topics intended to encourage and equip individuals as they build meaningful relationships with those around them. Sessions will be offered in tracks that focus on building a relationship in a various vocation or foster growth in a specialized area. These tracks will be three different sessions on the same topic, so participants may choose to stay with one presenter and dig deeply into that topic, or may move between topics as desired. The more people from a congregation who attend, the more sessions can be covered. Tracks and sessions are described in the registration packet on the right.

SPECIAL INGATHERING – A special ingathering for hygiene kit items will take place at Prairie Fire. Items collected during registration will be packed into hygiene kits throughout the day. At the end of the day, participants are invited to take packed kits home with them and distribute them to elderly, fixed-income, single-parent, or other households in their community. This is one way to care for or build relationships with others. Find a full list of ingathering items on the right.

This event promises to be inspiring, exciting, and uplifting for all who attend. Registration information is available by following the links on the right.
